About The General’s Assembly

First, welcome to my site! I’m so glad that you’ve stopped by to visit and share your hysteria of Hoosier basketball with me.

There’s two things about me that I’d like you to know. Collecting is in my DNA and my passion for Indiana University and the basketball program might run as deep as anyone you’ll ever come across. Both came together over time to fuel an insatiable obsession for finding, preserving, and glorifying Hoosier memorabilia.

Let’s face it…there’s no other place on the planet where basketball runs through the veins of its people like the state of Indiana. In no other state will you find a basketball goal in nearly every driveway or mounted on so many garages and barns. In no other state will you find multiple high school gyms that pack more than 7,000 fans at a game, let alone one. There’s no other state in the country where the fans are more knowledgeable of this great game.

Indiana University represents the pinnacle of basketball in the state with a history of unrivaled success and rich tradition. It’s what Hoosier basketball has come to stand for through its coaches and players donning the cream & crimson that make me proud to be a die hard fan — discipline, integrity, hard work, and the absence of names on the backs of the jerseys. The emphasis on the team — and what it represents — is more important than the individual.

You could say that I’m a modern day version of Indiana Jones (my favorite films of all-time, by the way), except instead of being an “obtainer of rare antiquities”, I see myself as a “curator of Indiana basketball history”. I spend my time hunting and searching…even traveling across all parts of the state in search of new memorabilia and trying to soak up history in the process.

The genesis of this site was born out of my desire to share this passion with others who share the same passion as I — and at the same time, pay homage to the players and coaches that have represented the state and university. There’s not a better fan base in all the land and I know there’s a lot of people out there that are just as crazy as me. Hopefully, we’ll all gain some new friends and together, build a community of super-curators just like us.

So…if you like what you see here…well, good news. I’m just getting started. There’s so much more to share! I’ll be updating this site as often as I can, adding new items from my personal collection, sharing new additions, providing more information and provenance of showcased items, and much, much more.

Enjoy your Knight at the Museum.
